A practical checklist for clarifying the use case, participating role, workflow boundary, data readiness and implementation ownership before development begins.

1. Define the use case

Write the user journey in plain language. Identify who starts it, what the user is trying to achieve, what data is required and what successful completion looks like.

2. Confirm the participating role

Clarify the relevant application and ecosystem role before technical design begins. This determines the workflows and integration responsibilities that must be implemented.

3. Inspect source data

List the records required for the use case and check whether the source system captures them in a structured, consistent and retrievable form.

4. Map workflow changes

Identify where new identity, consent, exchange or status actions will appear in the existing product and which staff roles will perform or monitor them.

5. Plan testing and support

Define test environments, end-to-end scenarios, error handling, user support, monitoring and post-go-live ownership before the integration is declared ready.
